Ragnar 2009

Last weekend my family ran the Ragnar Wasatch Back race. We decided to sign up and train for this almost a year ago. I think most of us would agree it was one of the hardest things we have ever done. We had a lot of fun preparing and deciding our team name, which was AKL Running. We decided this because the three families that make up our whole extended family is Ash, Kanegae, and Linnell. How this race works is we run from Logan to Park City as a relay team. We started Friday morning and a memeber of our team was constantly running a leg until we were finished Saturday night. The total miles of this race was over 180 miles. Each team member had three of their own legs they had to run. Some of the legs were as small as 3 miles and some were over 10. We had so much fun doing this race we already have signed up for next year. I have a lot of other pictures I need to post but here are some to start with.
Runners 1-6, car and driver #1. My brother Tyler runner 6, Me runner 4, Justin runner 5, Ashlee runner 2, Aunt Alison 3, Aunt Marsha our driver, My dad runner 1. In the second car there was runner 7 cousin Dallan, runner 6 cousin Karinne, 7 cousin Curtis, 8 cousin Collin, 9 Brother Travis, 10 My mom, and driver #2 my uncle Scott.
My dad at the start line, friday June 19th 11:00 am. Finish time Saturday June 20th 7:30pm
My dad giving me H2o, I think I look a little pissed off. ha ha
End of my first leg. Not so bad I think it was 5.? miles. It was in the middle of the day, hot!!!!
My grandpa and his sister came to cheer us on for a couple of the legs. My grandparents are the very best they always come to everything we do to support and cheer us on.

Justin screaming at the end of one of his runs!

My aunt Alison giving my brother Ty H2o.
My dad running at night. We had to wear so much reflective stuff at night while running. We had a head lamp, vest, and a clip light on our butt.
My mom and dad passing off to each other.
My cousin Ashlee helped me through my last run. I don't think I could have made it up the very first hill of that run without her coming out of the car and running it with me. My last leg of our race was 7.9 miles and it had three or four up hill parts. I think this 7.9 miles up hill against the wind blowing rain on top of me the entire time was one of the hardest things I have done my entire life. You can tell by then end I was drenched!

Car #2
Our whole team running together across the finish line.

Wow Natasha!!! That is so awesome that all of you guys did that! I'm trying to break into the whole running thing... You think you're in shape until you start running, especially outside - its a completely different experience than running on a treadmill. haha Anyways, good for you!

I snuck onto your blog through Alison's. Hope you don't mind. I think I'll link on myself so I can watch all the fun.

You guys are awesome. The race sound amazing, and very tempting. I may just have to try that.
